Programming & Robotics ClassesPROGRAMMING
This course teaches the syntax and constructs of the C/C++ programming language. Both basic and advanced techniques are explored. This course is designed for any student requiring an understanding of lower-level programming functions and operations. The course is also essential for continuation into object-oriented languages such as Java and Visual Basic. ROBOTICS Students learn about Robotics using different kits, Robotopia, Steren Electronic Lab, VEX kits, Andromie, etc. The objective is to develop our own prototypes and participate in some national competitions like Robomatrix or international competitions like Robotchallenge or Infomatrix. See teacher Fernando Guzman's site for more details about these classes. |
Programming CompetitionsTeacher Fernando Guzman is the president of the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología (Solacyt), which hosts the coding olympics every year. This year, students participated in the XXI Olimpiada de Informática in January 2016. Freshman Francisco Ayala won the gold metal in the high school competition. Computer Science Saturdays - August 2014:
Wizeline designs designs data-driven products for a wide variety of companies, and the data shows that there are not enough students interested in pursuing computer science careers. So Wizeline hosted a computer science class on Saturdays in our library. Six ASFG students and seven Liceo students were chosen to join the eight-week course. Students used Sublime Text 3 to learn the basics of Java and HTML. By the end of the eight-week course, students designed a project of their own. It was great to see students collaborating and coding on Saturdays! See the Technology Reports for information about their final project. |
